Mario strikes again

Mario (or Maurio or Maurito) (read my encounter with him here) had fled Coco for a few months, but we all knew he’d come back. He recently did — and hit again.

An email sent around town (I asked permission to publish)  had this info:

he is selling drugs and stealing all around in coco since many years

make sure you look for him around…..

print this photo and advise every one

Thank you for your the info on this poor excuse for a human being. My friend Hugh Cooper had his backpack stolen Friday Jan. 29th. while waiting for a bus near the Ocotal road intersection in Coco. The backpack was black in colour and contained a new silver HP notebook, Shimano fishing reel, and a pair of sneekers. Has Mario struck again? Frontier justice is necessary to convince criminals that they are not allowed in our beautiful little town.

Apparently this Morito is living in a shack behind Tom’s which is literally 4 buildings away from us. We now figure it was him casing the corner house of our neighbor. He ripped off the emergency lights and through it into our yard. Obviously thinking he could eventually sneak into his backyard in the dark. Very stupid actually as he has 2 dogs and we do too. One of which would probably take his ass out with one bite!!
What is with the cops here? They don’t like it when the north americans complain! Had I known it was legal to publish an obvious theft on email we would have done it for years with all the theives that work on construction, renos etc. As well, why can’t we publish those that have tricked us into building homes when they themselves do not own the property as happened to us! We were lucky as the lawyer ended up making us partners with the actual owner of the property. But even now the individual lives in one of the duplex’s claiming to own it although his name is not on title! And tries everything to make it miserable for any renters that we have!
Another mysterious law of Costa Rica prevents us from doing anything more! Imagine us trying to even sell it when he has now added chickens and a parking lot full of wrecked vehicles!!
We now know where Morito lives and will definately be keeping an eye on our properties on this block!
Perhaps that is the only way we’ll be safe as the local gendarmes really don’t give a crap!

  4. Wow. Either that’s someone else, or he’s gotten much bolder. Scary! The guy near the anchor is actually very shy and would run away from any of us if confronted. But some of the others are very, very frightening.

  5. Yup, that’s him. He usually goes on a spree and then leaves. I’m hoping he again flees sooner or later, for the whole neighborhood’s sake!

  6. HI ABBY,
BAD BOY MARIO PALOMINO CONTRERAS BACK IN TOWN HE HAS BEEN GONE FOUR ABOUT ONE MONTH HE LIVES
BACK BEHIND MY HOME SO I KNOW WHEN HE’S HOME HE CAME HOME YESTERDAY
THOUGHT YOU MIGHT LIKE TO NO.

  7. Andre’s community email came around (and your response to it) a while ago in February or so, our house in Playa Hermosa got hit last month (mid March) and I’m convinced it has to be that jerk bc no one else around here would do that to us. If you see him wearing any foreign soccer jerseys (AC Milan, among others), take a photo! He stole every jersey my fiancé had here, along with every electronic, etc in the house. WORST FEELING EVER walking into your destroyed home.

  8. He definitely looks shady.
