Hitting the red carpet with Kelly Rowland

Hitting the red carpet with singer Kelly Rowland.

One of the most fun parts of my job as editor-in-chief of Vegas magazine is also the part that makes me the most nervous. If I had my druthers, I’d be a writer plugging away behind a laptop… But part of my current gig includes a great deal of appearances and cover parties with celebrities such as Brooke Burke. I’ve talked a lot about my fear of public speaking, and I have to say — I’ve gotten a lot better! Good thing, because at my most recent party, it was my job to introduce our stunning cover star: the ridiculously talented Kelly Rowland.

To keep my nerves in check, I always have dinner with my girlfriends before our bigger events. This time, we dined at Blue Ribbon, my favorite sushi spot, inside the Cosmopolitan. The party was held at the hotel’s Boulevard Pool. We got there early and took this gorgeous shot, with the Paris behind us. As you can tell by our hair, it was a very windy night!

Kelly sparkled in a gorgeous Roberto Cavalli dress. I posed for a few photos in front of our blow-up of her cover.

The part I dread all night! I think the heavy wind distracted me and kept me from getting too nervous, because it all passed by in a blur. Standing on stage with Joe, my magazine’s publisher, in front of 1,000 people, I got to introduce Kelly Rowland. The crowd went wild when she blew onto stage! One of her dancers helped me down the stairs, and I was still shaking. Kelly’s performance was awesome. I haven’t heard singing like that in a long time — she’s a huge talent!

After the show, I got to relax in my cabana with all of my friends — including one of my favorite comedians from E!’s Chelsea Lately, Michael Yo.

Everyone was having so much at the party that it ran an hour and a half after it was supposed to end! The wind finally got to be too much though, and we shut it down. I got talked into one nightcap at the Cosmo’s Chandelier Bar with friends including Victoria Brewood, of Pommie Travels.
