Traditional Napa Kick-off: Oxbow food yum

Oxbow food

Meeting friends at Napa’s Oxbow with Andi of Misadventures with Andi. ยฉAndi Perullo

On my most recent trip to Napa, I knew I was with kindred spirits when Andi of My Beautiful Adventures, Andi of Misadventures with Andi, and I decided to run over to Oxbow Market to take down some oysters and champagne to kick off our stay. So far, every trip of mine in this particular slice wine country has started this way. I’m not sure why… Is it the magical saltiness of Hog Island‘s famous oysters, or the heavy pours of the local champagnes? I’m not sure. All I know is that on this Napa trip, I have never laughed harder. Within a minute of being there, we met two very outgoing men who were as enamored with the two Andis as I was…. Who can blame them?

Hog Island

I love all of Oxbow Market, but I am especially partial to Hog Island. As much as I love Napa and all of its spread out wineries and educational tours, maybe I like getting a bit of a fun buzz on before I get out there? Or maybe I just love bellying up to the bar and ordering my briny oysters and as much champagne as I want? Dunno, don’t care. All I know is: This is my happy place.

Oxbow Food Champagne

Domaine Carneros happens to be my favorite Pinot Noir that I buy in Vegas, so I felt so privileged to drink it every time I turned around during this particular trip to Napa.

Oxbow food oysters

Watching the Hog Island team shuck the oysters right in front of you? This is why I leave Las Vegas so often to escape to Napa.

Oxbow Food Oysters

Halfway done with our plate of salty goodness… and sadly, almost done with our abbreviated stay at my favorite Napa hot spot. But do not fret, my friends — our good times in wine country were just beginning!!

Oxbow Market is located at 644 First Street in Napa, California,ย 707.226.6529

I toured San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma as a guest ofย Trafalgar Tours, but all opinions are my own.
