Being the editor of a magazine that represents all things luxury Vegas has meant three years of not only a demanding work environment, but also a life as a 24/7 spokesperson of sorts for not only the publication, but the city as well. All of this has been the most wonderful experience. But the “100 percent all the time,” all-encompsing-job schtick has meant one thing to me in the past few days since I ended this chapter in my life: Whoa, saying good-bye was way more emotional than I thought! Enter, my very last cover party. After throwing soirees with stars such as my favorite Las Vegas Strip icon Celine Dion, country idol Shania Twain, and Dancing with the Stars beauty Brooke Burke, I have come to relish the excitement. My very last one? Chrissy Teigen, the most stunning of swimsuit models
I, of course, turned it into a going-away party of sorts for myself.
My impromptu sort-of/sort-of-not going-away party was a surreal experience. Everything seemed to be happening so fast. My adrenaline was the weirdest surge of energy — I was so on edge that I barely remember the few hours before, yet I was so calm that for the first time ever, taking the mic to introduce our cover model didn’t bother me as much. (Ignore the crazy lady demanding champagne in our private cabana right before — old habits die hard.)
Chrissy was a blast. (Don’t believe me? Follow her on Twitter.) I honestly couldn’t have imagined a better person to have done my last big party with. She was fun, down-to-earth, good with meeting people, everything. If only all cover models were as wonderful, gracious and professional… Chrissy, you’re awesome! Thank you so much for making my last party as stress-free as possible.
Our party was a gorgeous affair outside at Palazzo’s Azure Luxury Pool. Chrissy and I were set up in the first cabana, so we had a busy night with tons of fun people stopping by to say hi. It always makes me happy when people love the magazine, and I also enjoy seeing fans go up to our cover star. It means we picked the right one!
Chrissy is a total foodie and talks all about it in her Vegas magazine article — from her food blog to how she stays fit for her Sports Illustrated shoots to which local restaurants she likes. Plus, she dishes on her upcoming wedding to John Legend. Have a read!
It’s an end of an era. I am going to cut this post short before I get too sappy. (PLENTY of that to come!)
Thank you so much, Vegas magazine, for a wonderful three years!
